Benefits of Commercial Air Duct Cleaning
People spend about 90% of their time indoors, which means having clean breathable air is important. Proper maintenance and upkeep of your systems is a great way to prevent problems. A major part of taking care of your system is cleaning your air ducts. Here are the benefits of commercial air duct cleaning.
Reduced energy costs
Making the HVAC system work harder due to contaminants you are wasting energy. Clean air ducts meaning the system can work without issues, therefore the heating and cooling operations work much more efficiently. When your equipment is working efficiently, it will not use as much energy as if it is struggling to work. Clean air ducts will definitely have an effect on your energy bills.
Longer equipment life
When depress and other particles build up it can clog up your HVAC system and cause it to fail. Having a regular air duct cleaning can keep your equipment from failing and running for years.
Removes Old Toxins
Commercial Air duct cleaning reduces airborne pathogens that could cause respiratory distress. While previously used vacuum systems may remove old toxins, some could be left behind or made their way into the furnace system. These can be heavy chemical treatments or resurfacing of items that contain paint or other toxic compounds that can release fine particles into the air.
Improves indoor air quality
Over time, many contaminants and air pollutants will enter your commercial airflow, all of these contaminants are then sucked up into your heating and cooling systems and then re-circulated over and over on a daily basis. This vicious cycle creates build-up in the ductwork of your commercial area.
Having commercial air ducts cleaned means you can remove potential odors that seem to linger around. This could be from chemical solutions used in your plant or exhaust from fans or machines. Extracting the cobwebs and dust that may be in your air ducts can eliminate these smells.
Commercial Air Duct Cleaning Process
Commercial air duct cleaning is a fairly intrusive and loud process. All work will be done off hours, either at night or on the weekends. We take extra care to make sure all work stations and flooring are protected with plastic before we begin our work. At the end of the shift, all floors are vacuumed to ensure we leave your space cleaner than when we found it. We also provide commercial air duct sealing to ensure your air duct is taken care of.
1. Inspect the air duct
Before any work can begin, a full inspection of the facility’s air duct will be conducted to determine the amount of the debris and contaminants as well as any damage that may be present.
2. Protective coverings
Before any work starts, all furniture will be covered to protect it from any impact from dust and debris that may happen during the cleaning process.
3. Gain Access to Air Ducts
To gain access to the air ducts in order to clean them, the first step is to utilize the existing service openings if possible. If existing service openings are not usable for the cleaning process than it may be required to remove ceiling sections to access the ductwork. In these cases, the ceiling sections will be replaced upon the completion of the cleaning process.
4. Clean Diffusers
Once the cleaning starts, the first aspect of the air duct that gets cleaned is all diffusers, dampers, grills, and diffuser boots. These will be removed and cleaned and then replaced at the end of the cleaning procedures.
5. Clean Ductwork
All internal ductwork such as; fiberglass insulation, ducts, dampers, louvers, etc will then be cleaned via vacuuming, air washing, or power brushing.
The vacuuming involves the use of a portable vacuum cleaner with a High-Efficiency Particle Air filter. The vacuum is inserted into openings of the air duct to remove and clean out contaminants. Cleaning with the vacuum is limited to how far of a reach of the user has so several openings into the ducts may have to create.
The air washing method uses a hose with a special attachment that pushes the compressed air into each opening in the duct. The attachment improves the force that pushed the air into the ductwork, removing particulates and toxins. These contaminants are then pushed downstream through the air duct and out of the system and into a vacuum collection unit.
Power brushing employs the use of electric-powered rotation bristle brushes which loosen debris and dirt from the walls of the ductwork. The loosened dirt is then drawn out by a special vacuum.
6. Clean Air Handlers and Coils
The final step to the cleaning process is to vacuum and wash all fan blowers, housing, and interior parts. The coils will also be vacuumed and a coil cleaner will be applied to ensure complete elimination of dust and debris before a final rinse. As part of this commercial air duct cleaning process, all air handlers and coils will be thoroughly cleaned.
